Fitzroy Crossing

Fitzroy Crossing is not much more than a roadhouse, a couple of motels, a pub and a welfare office, but it’s a convenient base for exploring the surrounding region that includes Geikie and Windjana Gorges.

Sightseeing, museums & tourist attractions

Geikie Gorge National Park

The best way to explore the gorge is to take one of the cruises on the river, although there are also some good walks along the gorge and elsewhere in the national park. The gorge features some nice picnic and barbecue sites and is home to plenty of freshwater crocodiles. It is worth the visit if you’re driving although it’s otherwise a bit difficult to get to.
