Coming & going

Richmond is on the main bus and train route linking Townsville with Mount Isa. Trains only pass through here twice a week in each direction, buses are much a much frequent alternative with daily coaches on the Townsville-Tennant Creek run.


The train station is on Middleton Street in the town centre and Greyhound (tel 1300 473 946) buses stop at Richmond Agencies at 54 Goldring Street.

Sightseeing, museums & tourist attractions

Richmond Marine Fossil Museum (Kronosaurus Korner)

This excellent little museum has some of the world’s best palaeontology artefacts including the Richmond Pliosaur, which many believe to be the best vertebrate fossil found in Australia. Another highlight is a 100 million year old dinosaur with its fossilised skin still intact.
