The big draw in Rockhampton is the excellent steak and you will see signs for cheap steak dinners on virtually every street in the city centre. They are almost always a great deal as the steaks are exceptionally large. One highlight is the unassuming restaurant below Ascot Backpackers that is noted for its excellent stone grill steak and is a must if you’re staying at their hostel.
