Day hikes in Cradle Mountain

You are here Home  > Tasmania  > Western & central Tasmania  > Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park >  Day hikes in Cradle Mountain

There are plenty of day hikes originating at the northern part of the national park. These range from easy ten-minute walks to more strenuous treks up Cradle Mountain. The Dove Lake Loop Track (2 hours) is the most popular and is a good introduction to the park.

The information centre sells a detailed map of these hiking trails for $4.

Easy hike, I can see why it’s one of the “must-do” walks of tassie

It took 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete the circuit at a leisurely pace, stopping to take quite a number of photos.

Clockwise is the best direction, you get to the great viewpoint first. Far side of the circuit is a bit boring.
