All long-distance train services terminate at Southern Cross Station on Spencer Street at the western edge of the city centre.
V/line operates trains within Victoria with services to Albury, Ararat, Echuca, Shepparton, Swan Hill, Traralgon and Warrnambool. Interstate train services are operated by NSW TrainLink to Sydney and Great Southern Railway’s the Overland service goes to Adelaide.

It’s not near the good part of the city but the Skybus from the airport goes here, country trains and there’s a shopping centre and Etihad Stadium right next to and above the station

It's a great station, love the design,, but the fumes get to you and make you feel nauseous. Very clean and modern. But it is FREEZING here when I'm here (and at Flinders st too) so please suit up.

Keep an eye on the monitors. Train routes change often - the train you thought you were taking will change with no notice, especially if en route to Flinders St.

Careful with the monitors on the platform, as the staff always switch them back and forth to see what train is next.

3/4 of the lockers here don't work. You wont be able to find a place to hold your luggages especially big ones.

if you are a dumb tourist and walk through the wrong gate the security is polite and will let you walk back through to get to your train

Built in 1859, Southern Cross station was renovated in '05 to include an undulating roof that covers an entire city block. At the western end of the station is a colorful "History of Transport" mural.
