An attractive town west of the Blue Mountains, Bathurst is known throughout Australia as the home of the Mount Panorama racetrack and the annual Bathurst 1000 motor race. When the race isn’t being run, the six-kilometre track up Mount Panorama is a public road and virtually everyone with a car who visits Bathurst does a lap of the famous circuit – but it isn’t quite the same when you stick to the 60km/h speed limit.
Other attractions in Bathurst are the National Motor Racing Museum and the Sir Joseph Banks Nature Park.
