This impressive natural feature in the Watarrka National Park is located between the West MacDonnell and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Parks. Kings Canyon is a spectacular spot, but it is one of the more expensive destinations to stay in central Australia.
There are two hiking trails in the park. The Canyon Walk (6km; 3–4 hours) is the most rewarding walk and begins with a steep climb to the top of the Canyon, and then follows the Canyon rim around before descending again. The highlight of this walk is the ‘Garden of Eden’, an enchanting area of lush vegetation and cool waterholes. The Kings Creek Walk (2.6km; one hour) winds along Kings Creek ending at a lookout point.
