The Reef Teach slide show and lecture provides an entertaining and educational insight into the reef. It is highly recommended if you plan on diving or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef.

Reefworld
Reefworld is a floating pontoon at Hardy Reef that includes underwater observation decks, semi-submersible coral viewing vessels. Cruise Whitsundays run day trips to Reefworld from the Port of Airlie Maritime Terminal that include snorkelling and a buffet lunch.
Renmark bus and coach stop
Premier Stateliner coaches run between Adelaide and Renmark. Premier Stateliner coaches leave from the tourist information centre at 84 Murray Avenue. Greyhound coaches also stop here en route between Adelaide and Mildura.

Richmond bus and coach stop
Greyhound coaches stop in Richmond en route between Townsville and the Northern Territory. Coaches stop at 54 Goldring Street.
Richmond Gaol
Australia’s oldest existing colonial prison is well preserved and offers the only surviving example of female solitary confinement cells in Tasmania as well as an extensive collection of convict relics.
Richmond train station
The Inlander train service linking Townsville and Mount Isa stops at Richmond, although this service only operates twice a week in each direction.
Richmond train station is on Middleton Street in the town centre.
Riverside Craft Market
This is a great place if you love poking around markets.
Riversleigh Fossil Centre
The museum focuses on the world heritage Riversleigh fossil sites just north of Mount Isa and features a huge replica fossil studded limestone outcrop, a simulated tropical rainforest recreating the Miocene period of 25 million years ago and many other displays.
RnR white water rafting trips
Cairns is a good base for rafting on nearby rivers.
RnR run half-day white water rafting trips on the Barron River (grade 2–3 rapids) and full day trips on the Tully River (grade 3–4 rapids). All RnR rafting trips include transfers from Cairns.

Premier Stateliner coaches stop in Robe en route between Adelaide and Mount Gambier. Coaches stop at the Mobil service station on Main Road near the town centre.

Robina train station
A train line runs through the Gold Coast Hinterland linking Brisbane with the Gold Coast with stations at Nerang and Robina. Although it isn’t on a main interstate rail line, there are frequent Citytrain services into Brisbane. Bus 750 goes to Surfers Paradise from Robina Station.
Rock climbing and abseiling (Grampians National Park)
Grampians Mountain Adventure Company runs rock climbing and abseiling trips in the Grampians National Park. Prices start at $95 for an introductory half-day rock climb and abseil. A full day rock climbing and abseiling excursion costs $145.
Rockhampton Art Gallery
Rocky’s art gallery has exhibits of art by local artists with an emphasis on paintings from the 1940s to the 70s.
Rockhampton Coach Terminal
Most coaches going up the coast will stop at Rockhampton. Greyhound and Premier Motor Service coaches stop at the 24-hour Mobil roadhouse on George Street.
Rockhampton train station
Rockhampton is served by trains to Brisbane, Cairns and Longreach. It is the terminus of the Tilt Train to Brisbane and the Spirit of the Outback stops in Rockhampton en route between Brisbane and Longreach and the Spirit of Queensland stops here en route between Brisbane and Cairns.
Rockhampton’s train station is located at the end of Murray Street, southeast of the city centre.

Rockhampton Zoo & Botanic Gardens
Rockhampton has a surprisingly good zoo that is home to primates although the main focus is on native Australian fauna. Entry is free, which makes it a great alternative to the high priced wildlife parks in the bigger cities.
