There are several companies operating scenic helicopter flights of the main sights on the Great Ocean Road. This includes scenic helicopter rides operated by 12 Apostles Helicopters that depart from the 12 Apostles visitor facility near Port Campbell.
Scenic flights start at $145 for a 15-minute flight that takes in the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and London Arch (formerly known as London Bridge); $235 for a 25-minute flight that continues beyond London Arch to the Bay of Islands and $570 for a 60-minute flight that also takes in Cape Otway Lighthouse.
Apollo Bay Surf & Kayak can teach you to surf at Apollo Bay. Two-hour lessons cost $60.
Go Ride a Wave can teach you to surf at Anglesea. One two-hour lesson costs $65 and three lessons costs $180.
The Wonderland Loop (9.6km, 5 hours) is a popular half-day walk that starts and finishes in Halls Gap. It offers brilliant views and visits many of the park’s main attractions including Grand Canyon, the Pinnacle, Splitters Falls and Venus Baths. This walk is a good option if you only have a day to see the park and it is a relatively easy walk for novice hikers.
The Mount Rosea loop walk (12km, 4–5 hours) is a difficult half-day hike that starts and finishes at Rosea campground on Mount Victory Road. It offers stunning views from the summit of Mount Rosea.
This is one of the most popular short walks in the Grampians National Park and it can get very crowded at busy times. It is a steep, but short and relatively easy, walk that takes you to Victoria’s largest waterfall.
You can start the Boronia Peak Trail (6.6km, 2–3 hours) from either Brambuk Backpackers or Tim’s Place. It is a challenging hike to Boronia Peak, where there are nice views of Wonderland Range.
This easy walk (2.8km; 1–1½) follows a steam to Beehive Falls. It departs from Beehive Falls car park on Roses Gap Road.
The Zumsteins Picnic Area is a good spot for viewing kangaroos in their natural habitat and it is a very popular stop for people driving around the Grampians National Park.
The Grampians are difficult to explore properly without your own transport, but there is a daily V/line coach between Halls Gap and Melbourne. Coaches stop at Tim’s Place (44 Grampians Road).
