Gold Coast Airport (OOL)

You are here Home  > Queensland  > Gold Coast >  Gold Coast Airport (OOL)

Although the Gold Coast is close enough to make Brisbane’s airport a convenient gateway, Gold Coast Airport (OOL) in Coolangatta at the southern end of the coast has frequent flights from most major destinations in Australia.

Surfside buses stop on the Gold Coast Highway outside the Airport, and they also operate an airport shuttle service from both Brisbane and Gold Coast/Coolangatta Airports with drop-offs to hostels and hotels along the Gold Coast. The shuttle costs around $21, so it’s a much better idea to walk five minutes to the highway and catch the local bus (route 700 to Surfers Paradise) for just $7.50 (or $5.24 with a go card).

If you’re travelling from Brisbane Airport, the Airtrain operates twice an hour with a connecting bus to Surfers Paradise. It costs $35.90 from the airport to Robina station or $55 with a connecting shuttle bus to your hostel.

You can go to broad beach south via 777 public bus in front of the airport. Don’t forget to purchase ‘GO Card’ at the J.W. Smith in advance. 777 bus departs from the bus stop every 15 minutes.

Australia's sixth-busiest airport and still more or less a tin shed.

There’s more and better dining options after security check. In the food court inside, you have sumo salad with vegan options and also hungry Jack's.

Gold Coast Airport is quite a way from the tourist hubs. To avoid hefty taxi fares, take the 777 express bus to Broadbeach South then light rail to Surfers or Southport. It runs every 15 minutes.

Small airport and weak services.. It closes at 11 p.m. so if you arrived at a late flight and expext shops open good luck!

Get a Go-card from the tourist info, by the domestic arrivals. Can be used on all public transport including trains to Brisbane

Nice little airport ruined by greedy money changes. Don't change foreign currency into aid here. They attempt to make 15+ cents from each dollar.

Take an umbrella if wet weather is forecast as OOL preserves the old tradition of loading passengers via the tarmac.

Take Bus 777 to broadbeach station. Then the tram to surfers paradise. Pay from zone 18 to zone 14. 8.60$. It is quick

Where all good bucks, hens or white leather shoe convention delegates fly in and out of. Expect tattoos, singlets and thongs and that's just the females.

Anyone is welcome in with a security check! Also, you can bring your own food and even coffee onto the domestic flights.
