Kuranda train station

You are here Home  > Queensland  > Cairns and environs  > Kuranda >  Kuranda train station

The train is the nicest way to travel from Cairns to Kuranda. The Kuranda Scenic Railway  operates the historic train and the ride is so popular that most people rate the train trip higher than Kuranda itself, although others find the endless commentary a little irritating. Trains leave Cairns at 8.30am and 9.30am, returning at 2pm and 3.30pm. The train isn’t cheap at $49 for a one-way ticket or $74 return.

Do the boat trip on the river opposite the station... Cheap, informative and a nice 45 mins on the water!

Excellent views of the waterfalls and the gorge and worth doing as the second leg of the Skyrail package, but a little pricey in my opinion.

A spectacular journey. Unsurpassed views. Dense rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the World Heritage-listed Barron Gorge National Park. Summed up in one word? Awesome.
