Coffs Harbour

Coffs Harbour lies on the Pacific Highway just over halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. It has some great beaches and endless choices of water sports to take part in. It is a popular spot for backpackers with its adrenaline-pumping activities like skydiving and white water rafting and it’s one of the cheapest places on the east coast for diving lessons. Coffs also has a large surfing community and regularly holds regional competitions.

Jetty Beach is a protected cove good for swimming, but Park Beach is more popular and patrolled. Diggers Beach is the favorite spot for surfers, especially at Macauleys Headland, but the surf stays good at many beaches continuing north. The town itself is larger than the others of the region, but it has a very suburban feel and can sometimes seem boring. Still, there are some nice shops and cafes in the centre of town and it may be the best place to stay while enjoying the surrounding towns and attractions since there is a good choice of hostels here.
