There isn’t much to make you want to take the turnoff from the main highway to visit this dusty and muddy town. Derby’s attractions include a prison built from a boab tree that has a girth of 14.7m and Myall’s bore, a 120m-long cattle trough, which is the longest in the southern hemisphere. Derby’s 11m tides are the highest in Australia.
