Eungella National Park

Eungella National Park is about an hour inland from Mackay. It is home to a large subtropical rainforest. The park’s highlight is the impressive Finch Hatton Gorge.
At Broken River there is a viewing deck that is an excellent place for spotting platypus. Dusk and dawn are the best times to catch a glimpse of a platypus but it helps if you are both quiet and patient.

Eungella National Park is difficult to reach without a car but there are tours to the park that operate from Mackay.
