Victoria’s oldest town was once a busy whaling port but it’s now an industrial city that is dominated by a big aluminium smelter. Travellers that are interested in Australian maritime history will no doubt find the place interesting although many travellers bypass Portland altogether.
There are two bus routes in Portland. Route 1 covers the area north of the town centre
and route 2 goes south of the centre. A two-hour fare costs $2.20–3.80 and a daily fare costs $4.40–7.60.
