The first stop south of the Perth area is Bunbury, the principal city of the southwest. After visiting Bunbury most travellers move onward to the Margaret River region, which lies between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. The land here is honeycombed with limestone caves, some of which are open to the public. The Yallingup Caves near Dunsborough, are particularly impressive.
Western Australia’s southwest offers magnificent forests of tall native trees including four species of rare eucalypt that grow in a small area here and nowhere else on earth.
