St Helena Island is Queensland’s version of Alcatraz. This prison island is interesting although some of the trips are quite touristy with re-enactments of historical events in the same style you would expect from a tacky theatre restaurant.
Both day and night trips are available with ghost tours at night. Day trips cost $74, nighttime ghost tours $95. A B Sea Cruises run the trips from Manly in Brisbane’s southeast to St Helena Island. Manly is easily reached by train on the Cleveland line.
