Jetty Dive Centre

Coffs Harbour is a popular place to learn to dive. Diving here is considerably cheaper than in Queensland and the nearby Solitary Islands Marine Park is a top diving spot. A two-day PADI dive course costs $349 and a 3–4 day PADI Open Water dive course costs $395–495.

Jim Jim Falls

The spectacular Jim Jim Falls stop flowing in the dry season, which unfortunately is the only time when the falls are accessible by road (4WD only). Kakadu Air operate scenic flights in the wet season, which cost $195 and this is the only was to see the falls in their full glory. Flights depart from the Cooinda and Jabiru East airstrips.

Justice & Police Museum

Formerly a police station and courtroom, the Justice & Police Museum has an interesting series of exhibits on crime, law and policing in New South Wales. Visitors have the opportunity to see mug shots of early criminals, weapons and forensic evidence as well as seeing the inside of a police charge room and a remand cell.

Kalbarri National Park

Kalbarri National Park features 80km of gorges and there are some very good hiking trails ranging from the easy Z Bend hike (500m) that goes to a rock lookout with views to the Murchison River. Longer walks include the Coastal Trail (8km, 3–5 hours) that takes in coastal views from the cliff tops between Eagle Gorge and Natural Bridge.

Visitors should be very cautious while hiking in the gorge areas and park rangers recommend that you undertake the longer walks in groups of at least five.

Kalgoorlie Train Station

Kalgoorlie is well served by rail. The Indian Pacific is one of Australia’s greatest rail journeys running between Perth and Sydney with a stop in Kalgoorlie. Transwa’s daily Prospector service to Perth is a cheaper alternative.

Kalgoorlie’s train station is on Forrest Street opposite the intersection with Wilson Street.
