V/line operate regular rail services to Geelong and Melbourne and coaches to points along the coast as well as to Mount Gambier, Ballarat and Melbourne. The train station is on Merri Street near Warrnambool’s town centre.

Port Fairy bus and coach stop
V/line (tel 13 22 32) buses go to Warrnambool, Portland and Mount Gambier in South Australia and Transit South West bus route 10 runs between Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Buses stop on Bank Street.
Ballarat train station
Ballarat has good transport connections. V/line have trains to Ararat and Melbourne and V/line coaches to other destinations including Bendigo and Geelong. Both trains and coaches depart from the train station on Lydiard Street North.
Bendigo train station
Bendigo is 2½ hours north of Melbourne with regular bus and train connections. V/line coaches and trains stop at the station on Railway Plaza at the southern end of Mitchell Street.

Perth Zoo
Perth’s zoo is home to over 2000 animals representing 280 different species. It has the usual collection of African and native animals and the zoo is also a good spot for a picnic.
AQWA
AQWA is home to a large variety of marine life and it features several areas that recreate various marine environments. AQWA is Australia’s largest aquarium and it also boasts the country’s biggest walk-through underwater tunnel.
Western Australian Maritime Museum
The Western Australian Maritime Museum on Victoria Quay in Fremantle features an excellent collection of exhibits including a 90m-long submarine.
Fremantle Prison
The Fremantle Prison was built with convict labour in the 19th century and was operated as a prison until as recently as 1991. It has now been opened to the public and has frequent guided tours.
Fremantle Markets
This old market hall has been around since 1897 and is now home to one of Fremantle’s most popular attractions with over 150 stalls ranging from fruit and veggies to art and craft.
