Broken Hill train station

The train is the best way to travel to Broken Hill; the Indian Pacific stops here between Adelaide and Sydney. This train is considered one of Australia’s classic train journeys, particularly if you travel all the way to Perth.

NSW TrainLink also operates trains between Broken Hill and Sydney and also operates coaches between Broken Hill and Dubbo.

Broken Hill’s train station is on Crystal Street in the city centre near the corner of Chloride Street.

Broken Hill bus and coach stop

Buses and coaches stop at the tourist information centre at the corner of Blende and Bromide Streets. Coaches connect Broken Hill with Adelaide, Dubbo and Mildura. Take a coach to Dubbo to connect with coaches to other destinations in New South Wales or Mildura for connections in Victoria.

Darwin International Airport (DRW)

Darwin is the closest Australian city to Asia. Its airport handles many of the cheapest international flights into and out of Australia, making Darwin a popular gateway.

Darwin International Airport (DRW) is 10km northeast of the city centre and is served by the airport shuttle bus that meets most (but not all) flights and drops off at hostels. The one-way fare is $16 (although the fare is reduced with more passengers).
