Murwillumbah used to be served by trains, but the rail line from Casino was closed in 2004.

The train station is now used as a coach station with NSW TrainLink coaches to Casino, Tweed Heads and the Gold Coast. Premier Motor Services coaches also stop here en route between Brisbane and Sydney.
