Fish Frenzy is a another good fish and chip shop with a brilliant location right on Elizabeth Street Pier. Although you can get better fish and chips elsewhere, the location is excellent making it a great value place to enjoy fresh fish and chips.
Fish Frenzy
Mure’s
Mure’s is the biggest fish and chip place and is a Hobart landmark with a brilliant location right in the centre of Constitution Dock. It’s nice and dry on a rainy day but if the sun is shining one of the other four small fish and chips shops on Constitution Dock may be a better – and cheaper – option.
Transcontinental
There are four pubs in Quorn, although the Transcontinental, aka the Tranny, is by far the most popular with excellent meals at bargain prices.
Rusty’s Markets
The local tropical fruits are used by juice stands and the best place to sample and buy fresh fruit and vegetables is Rusty’s Markets next to Gilligan’s Hostel.
Café China
Try Café China in Rydges Plaza for excellent noodle dishes.

PJ O’Brien’s is an Irish pub in the centre of Cairns that has cheap food, drinks and a good atmosphere.
The Woolshed
Many hostels supply free meal vouchers to the Woolshed (24 Shields Street, Cairns), a famous bar/restaurant where a hearty $10 meal turns into a night of cheap drinks and dancing.
Agnes Water Tavern
There are not many nightspots in town, but the Agnes Water Tavern has cheap pub food, good beer and a relatively lively bar.
Molly Malone’s
Molly Malone’s is an Irish pub on Flinders Street in central Townsville (close to Reef Lodge, the Museum of Tropical Queensland and Reef HQ) that has cheap pub meals that are popular with backpackers.
