Parliament House
If you’re interested in Queensland state politics, you may want to take advantage of the free tours of Parliament House, which run regularly.
Museum of Brisbane (MoB)
The Museum of Brisbane inside City Hall has exhibits about the city’s history and culture.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Lone Pine is a large wildlife sanctuary with loads of native Australian animals including kangaroos and koalas as well as Tasmanian devils, wombats, dingoes and various reptiles. It is the world’s largest koala sanctuary with over 130 koalas.
Brisbane City Hall
City Hall is a major landmark in central Brisbane that features a clock tower with an observation deck with good views of the downtown area. The newly opened Museum of Brisbane (MoB) is on the ground floor.
Castlemaine Brewery
There are regular tours of the brewery that produces XXXX beer. Each 75-minute tour gives you the chance to learn more about how beer is made, learn a few bits of useless trivia and most importantly taste the finished product. Bookings recommended.
Armidale train station
NSW TrainLink’s Xplorer train service runs to Armidale from Sydney and Newcastle.
Armidale’s train station is on Brown Street, west of the town centre.
Scone train station
Although it is accessible by bus from Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, the train is the best way to visit Scone.
Scone lies at the western terminus on the Hunter line on the CityRail network and the frequent trains put it almost within commuting distance of Newcastle.
Scone is also accessible by NSW TrainLink train services that stop here en route between Sydney and Armidale or Moree.
Bathurst Train Station
Most people visit Bathurst en route to someplace else, although you may want to make the trip out from Sydney for the big race. Bathurst is at the end of the CityRail network and is also served by NSW TrainLink trains with regular services from Sydney to Dubbo and Broken Hill.
Buses and coaches also stop at the train station.
Orange train station
NSW TrainLink trains connect Orange with Broken Hill, Dubbo and Sydney.
